Leader in Me Parent Training Resources

What is Leader in Me?

Dear Families,

Dixon Elementary is proud to be a nationally recognized Leader in Me School. We received Lighthouse status in December 2020. We were recognized for living the principles embodied in Stephen Covey’s 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.  We have embraced and implemented the Leader in Me approach and its 5 Core Paradigms:

  1. Everyone can be a leader
  2. Everyone has genius.
  3. Change starts with me.
  4. Educators empower students to lead their own learning.
  5. Develop the whole person.

We have worked to develop a deep understanding of the 7 Habits,  and to incorporate the language, skills and strategies in our school and personal lives.  We embodied the seven habits in ourselves, and developed a school culture that promotes the development of the unique leadership abilities of each of our students.

We would like to support our families in reinforcing the Leader in Me 5 Core Paradigms and leadership principles at home.

Trusting and reinforcing the Leader in Me 5 Core Paradigms and leadership principles at home helps improve your student’s performance and fosters the qualities of independence (goal-setting, organization, time management, and planning); interdependence (teamwork, conflict management, creativity, and analytical skills); and renewal (fun, desire to learn, and good health).
